Zero to Three Journal redesign

Role: Art director/designer, Zero to Three

Programs: InDesign

When Zero to Three rebranded as an organization, I was presented with the opportunity to redesign the Zero to Three Journal. We wanted to maintain the longevity and reputation of our position within the publishing space. It was important to straddle the line between a more consumer-friendly treatment and the gravitas of a traditional academic publication.

I worked with our editors and key stakeholders to evaluate our readership audience, what competitor publications were doing, and decide which key elements were most important to our voice as a leader within the field.

The resulting redesign created a cleaner, more digestible reading experience with improved hierarchy, appealing photo and color applications, and an updated spine and cover treatment that continued—and expanded upon—the design of the preceding volumes when viewed together on the shelf. We received feedback that readers love the new look of the publication.
