Popeyes International Franchise Conference

Role: Designer/on-site graphics, O’Keefe Communications

Programs: Photoshop, Keynote

Popeyes provided a robust set of brand guidelines to from which to base the design of the overall conference, and it was my job to expand upon the brand over the course of three days, including the separate awards ceremony, the themed product release and tasting event, and keynote speech by Cheryl Bachelder, Popeyes’ CEO.

One key feature of the latter was based around creating a memorable experience that took the audience on a journey. Bachelder wanted to frame her talk around the experience of setting out from a mountain basecamp to reach the summit. I created a layered, animated stack of graphics that slowly built up a fully immersive environment as her talk progressed. We added full costume, room lighting and sound effects, and stage props to complete the experience. The “slides” used throughout her talk were fully integrated, animated graphics that spanned the entire stage, a full departure from familiar Powerpoint presentations attendees may have been used to.

The 5:1 screen format presented exciting challenges to work around. Screen spatial considerations for image magnification (live video), integrated screen content (e.g. full widescreen graphics), inset graphic sources (e.g. external speaker presentations shown in a frame), graphic backdrop builds, and on-camera backdrops needed to be taken into account in developing seamless graphics across input sources.

Conference feedback was overwhelmingly positive: attendees found the experience to be memorable, and the “basecamp to summit journey” was especially impactful. Our clients were equally thrilled with the result.
